Marjorie Christenson, 82, New Richland

The funeral service for Marjorie I. Christenson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. The Rev. Paul Andree will officiate. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland and one hour before the service at the church.
Marjorie died on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at New Richland Care Center.
She was 82 years old.
Marjorie was born in New Richland on Oct.
28, 1924, the daughter of Ben and Agnes (Loken) Shurson. She was a 1942 graduate of New Richland High School. On Feb. 11, 1945 she was united in marriage with Leo Christenson in Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland.
They farmed the Shurson family farm east of New Richland which became a Century Farm in 1973. Marjorie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had been baptized, confirmed and married.
She served as church secretary for 27 years, retiring in 1994. She had also been active in church council as treasurer, ladies aid and mission circle. While her children were growing up she had been a 4-H leader. She enjoyed baking, and flower and vegetable gardening.
Marjorie is survived by four children: Gerald &8220;Jerry&8221; (Carolyn) Christenson of Hastings, Loren Christenson of New Richland, Sheila Lutz of New Richland, Craig (Gail) Christenson of Geneva; eight grandchildren:
Patrick (Tracy) Zittel of Cottage Grove, Doreen (Jonathan) Ohman of Northfield, Kevin (Shelley) Zittel of St. Paul Park, Karen (Jeremy) Atchison of Wyoming, Minn.,
Carrie Christenson of Waseca, Zachary (Linda) Lutz of Brookings, S.D., Collin Christenson and Tory Christenson both of Geneva; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, George &8220;Bud&8221; (Phyllis) Shurson of New Richland; one sister, Joan McGuire of Eden Prairie; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 2006; two sisters; and four brothers.
