Walter Butler, 88, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Walter D. Butler, 88, of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Mary&8217;s Cemetery in Newry Township. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at Bayview.
Walter died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center with his family by his side.
Walter Daniel Butler was born Sept. 22, 1918, to Michael and Minnie (Haley) Butler in Newry Township. On Sept. 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Schnorenberg in Austin. Walter was employed at Wilson & Co./Farmstead for 34 years. He truly enjoyed his retirement spending time in his garden and peddling to others what his family couldn&8217;t consume. Walter loved working in his wood workshop where he refinished many pieces of furniture. He could take a broken-down chair ready for the garbage and turn it into a real treasure. A lot of his work sits in many homes. Walter also spent time hunting and fishing when he could.
Survivors include his daughter, Jody and her husband, David Nechanicky. Grandchildren: Renee Nechanicky, Patrick and his wife, Amber Nechanicky, Heidi and her husband, Scott Enger, Matt and his wife, Angi Nechanicky, son-in-law, Bob Ulland, Duluth.,
Renee Zavala, Lisa and her husband, Dan Squires, Kim Ulland, Kari Ulland, and Jana and her husband, Joel Hossli; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Arlene Schnorenberg and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Bette Ulland; parents, Mike and Minnie Butler, foster parents, Alice & Mike Coughlin; brothers, Lester and Ed Butler; sisters: Helen Young and Gertrude and her husband, John Kuiper; and brothers-in-law, Robert and his wife, Ruth Schnorenberg and Melvin Schnorenberg.
Walter was loved by many and will be missed.
