Wolverines&8217; Knutson goes over 1,000 points for career in G-E loss

ROCHESTER &8212; There was disappointment and celebration for the Glenville-Emmons boys&8217; basketball team against Schaeffer Academy Saturday.

The Wolverines watched a 12-point second half lead disappear in a 65-61 loss giving G-E its third straight to begin the season.

However, senior Jarrad Knutson had an impressive all-around game putting up 29 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals. The 29 points gave him 69 on the season and sent him over the 1,000-point mark for his career.

Knutson entered the season 62 points short of the milestone and now sits at 1,007 points with the career mark his next goal.

&8220;Jarrad was definitely the best player on the court tonight,&8221; G-E head coach Dan Fredrickson said. &8220;He did everything he could to help us win this game.&8221;

The Wolverines had a 34-31 halftime lead and expanded that to 12 before turnovers and poor defense hurt them down the stretch.

Schaeffer Academy outscored G-E 34-27 after halftime to get the win.

&8220;We protected the ball well in the first half, but it was a real problem in the second,&8221; Fredrickson said.

Jake Kirsch added 11 points for the Wolverines and Josh Adams had eight.

G-E is back in action tonight when it faces LeRoy-Ostrander in a Southeast Conference matchup.
