Alpha Hanson, 85, Lake Mills

Alpha Orlette (Teigen) Hanson, age 85, of Lake Mills, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating.

Burial will take place in Lime Creek Cemetery (Stateline), rural Emmons.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St., in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Alpha Orlette (Teigen) Hanson was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Winnebago County, IA, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Louise (Tweed) Teigen.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Winnebago County.

She was educated in the rural Lake Mills schools.

On Nov. 23, 1940, Alpha was married to Kenneth L. Hanson at Charles City, IA.

She was a farm wife for many years, and was also an employee at Fleetguard for 20 years.

Alpha was active at Salem Lutheran Church, she enjoyed gardening, her pets, her beloved grandchildren, and her many friends in the community.

Alpha is survived by one sister, Viola Andrews of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her children, Larry Hanson of Minneapolis, Carolyn Rawlings and her husband, John of Lake Mills, Dennis Hanson and his wife, Kathy of Lake Mills, and David Hanson and his wife, Annie of Lake Mills; seven grandchildren, Scott (Carrie) Hanson, Ross (Paula) Hanson, Amber (Travis) Tubr/, Nicole (Larry) Lentz, Eric (Lily) Schroder, Brian Hanson, and Kevin Hanson; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; two sons, Wayne and one in infancy; three brothers; and one sister.
