G-E splits with Hope Lutheran

The Glenville-Emmons basketball teams nearly completed a sweep of Hope Lutheran on the road Tuesday.
The boys dominated their game 57-21 while the girls came up just short 52-49 in overtime.
Jarrad Knutson and Aaron Wuerflein led the boys with strong all-around efforts. Knutson finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds to record the double-double while Wuerflein added 12 points and nine rebounds.
G-E dominated the game from the tip holding a 28-3 halftime advantage.
&8220;Our defense was strong all night and we had good rotations that forced them into tough shots,&8221;G-E head coach Dan Fredrickson said.
The Wolverines are now 3-6 on the season.
In the girls&8217; game, the Wolverines were done in by their free throw shooting as they went just 2-for-6 in overtime and 9-for-30 at the line for the game.
Ashley Lau led G-E with 15 points and 11 rebounds while Kailey Davis added 14 pints and four steals.
The Wolverines (1-9) had a chance to win the game in regulation as Lau drove to the basket in the final 20 seconds and put the ball in. However, she was called for the charge and eventually fouled out in the extra session.
Angie Wenzel led Hope Lutheran with 32 points including four 3-pointers.
&8220;This is a game we should have won,&8221; Wolverine head coach Lisa Ziebell said. &8220;We lost it at the free throw line.&8221;
The boys host Houston in Glenville Friday while the girls are back in action Saturday when they host Lake Mills.
