Henrietta Umberger, 73, Minneapolis

Henrietta G. Umberger, age 73, of Minneapolis, formerly of Glendale, Ariz., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006, in her Minneapolis home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Born Jan. 24, 1933 in Hollandale, Freeborn County. She was raised on a farm with her three brothers and two sisters. She was a 1969 graduate of Lamson College in Pheonix, Ariz. She retired from U.S. West, formerly Bell South & AT&T.; Her favorite hobbies include needlecraft, sewing, rug-making, making homemade soap, crocheting, gardening, flowers, mostly peonies, and growing gourdes for birdhouses. Her favorite pastimes were playing her organs, watching the

Minnesota Twins and golf on television.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Umberger Sr.; her parents, Hazel and George Van Ravenhorst; sister, Effie Rich; brother, Delbert Van Ravenhorst.

She is survived by her four children, David, Debra, Brian and Bill Stoen and his girlfriend, Denise; her grandchildren, Rachel (Chad) Spande and Jeremy Stoen and his girlfriend, Kristin; her great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Collin Spande; her two brothers, Dick (Linda) and Jim (Diane) Van Ravenhorst; and one sister, Verna (Harold) Worthen; brother-in-law, Wally Rich; and many other family and friends.

She was a good Christian woman. May she rest in peace.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Hollandale Reform Church, 105 East Park Ave., Hollandale with the Rev. Mark Volkers officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to service. Gathering at the church will follow the service.
