Robert Michaelis, 62, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Robert H. Michaelis, age 62, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church.
The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate.
Interment will be in Hayward Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 7
p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Bob died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at his home.
Robert Henry Michaelis was born May 16, 1944, to Leonard and Alice (Golbuff) Michaelis in Albert Lea.
He attended schools in Albert Lea, graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1962. Bob was employed at Wilson & Co. for a short time before serving in the United States Army.
After his discharge, he again worked at Wilson&8217;s and then for the city of Albert Lea in the Parks Department for the last 38 years. On Nov. 20, 1970, Bob was united in marriage to DeeAnn (Anderson) Godtland at Salem Lutheran Church. Bob liked motorcycles, his &8220;trike,&8221; working in his yard, racing go-carts, &8220;Old Time Music,&8221; his sports car, and anything that had to do with John Deere. He especially enjoyed all the little kids in his neighborhood and his family.
Bob was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, American Legion, Eagles, Union and the Democratic Party.
Survivors include his brother, Gordon (Dixie) Michaelis of Albert; sister, Norma (Jerry) Birkman of Blaine; step children Michele (Jeff) Lester of Ramsey and Mark (Pam) Godtland of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Zach Godtland and Rachael Godtland, both of Albert Lea; great-granddaughter, Alexis Godtland of Albert Lea; brother-in-law, Dean (Charlene) Anderson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Helen (Brad) Bena of Austin; mother-in-law, Shirley Bendickson of Albert Lea; aunt, Viola Rynerson and special friend, Alvin Gaines of Albert Lea; faithful companion, his dog, Jody; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, DeeAnn.
