Funeral services for Viola Lila Mickelson, age 91, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at St. John’s Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate.
Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Viola died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Viola Lila Mickelson was born Oct. 26, 1915, to John and Lillian (Munson) Loken at Silver Lake, IA.
She graduated from Albert Lea High School.
On Sept. 28, 1939, Viola was united in marriage to Clifford Mickelson at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple farmed in the Ellendale area before moving to Albert Lea. Viola was a member of First Lutheran Church and Mission Circle #8.
She was a homemaker and volunteered for Meals on Wheel, the Naeve gift shop, and St. John’s Lutheran Home. Viola loved gardening and had a small garden near the day care when she moved to Knutson Place.
Many especially enjoyed her spring flowers. She also spent time doing hardanger and gave many pieces as gifts.
Survivors include her daughter, Marilyn and husband, Dennis Spain of Shorewood; grandson, Jeffrey Spain of St. Louis Park; sister-in-law, Ruth Loken of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; brother, Clarence Loken; and her twin brother, Harold Loken.
