Yvonne Phillips, 88,Bricelyn

Funeral services for Yvonne Vernice Phillips of Bricelyn, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Glen Stevens will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the LeRoy Cemetery, LeRoy.

Mrs. Phillips died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at her home in Bricelyn; she was 88 years of age.

Yvonne was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Knierim, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick A. and Mae (Newsom) Mehring. She attended public school in LeRoy.

Yvonne was united in marriage to Harold J. Phillips in 1935 in LeRoy. She had been an Albert Lea resident since 1951 and had been employed by the Hormel Co. Munsingwear Co. and as a seamstress. Yvonne was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Yvonne loved plants and watching birds, bowling, crocheting and crossword puzzles. The greatest love of her life was for her family.

Yvonne is survived by her children; Bob and his wife Myra of Boulder, Colo., Bonnie Friday of Albert Lea, Bill and his wife Rita of Elk River, Barri and her husband Roger Johnson of Bricelyn.

The are 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold in 1977, son Harold Jr., Brother Eugene Mehring and sister Vera Backus.

Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice.
