Dorothy Jacobsen, 85, Freeborn

Dorothy Jacobsen, age 85, of Freeborn, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at Albert Lea Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Gerald Giese will officiate and burial will be in Freeborn Cemetery in Freeborn.
Dorothy Katherine Jacobsen was born April 10, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Meyer) Quade in Wells. Dorothy graduated from Wells High School, the class of 1939. She taught country school near Wells for several years. On Feb. 1, 1948, she married Norman E. Jacobsen in Wells. The couple farmed for many years near Freeborn. Dorothy was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, had taught Sunday school, and was involved with WELCA. She was a member of the Home Extension Group for many years. She liked preparing home projects for the Freeborn County Fair. Dorothy loved quilting, cooking, gardening and enjoyed bird watching.
Dorothy is survived by her husband: Norman Jacobsen of Freeborn; four
children: William Jacobsen of Wells, Mary (Dennis) Rollenhagen of Wells, Randy and his wife Mary Jacobsen of Loganville, Ga., Rick and his wife Julie Jacobsen of Lyle; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters: Marie Hansen of Albert Lea, Marcella Erickson of Bricelyn and Margaret and husband William Hungerford of Mason City, Iowa; and with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Irene Babcock.
