David Allan &8220;Spiffy&8221; Brekke, 45, of rural Austin, died Sunday morning, April 8, 2007, at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester. He was born Nov. 24, 1961, the son of Marvin and Mary June (Arett) Brekke in Austin.
He received his education in Albert Lea. After completing his education, David was employed as a truck driver for area companies, including Olsen Grading, K & K Fabrication and Sparrow Farms.
He was a member of Moscow Lutheran Church. He had a great love for draft horses and old tractors, enjoyed auctions and traveled the United States with the Coors Draft Horse Hitch Team. He especially liked to spend time with his two sons and his family and friends.
Survivors include his two sons, Jonathan Brekke and Matthew Brekke, both of Emmons; his father, Marvin Brekke of Albert Lea; two brothers, Mark (Debbie) Brekke of Oakland and Paul Brekke of Austin; two sisters, Annette (Kim) Naatz of Glenville and Joyce (Jerry) Erstad of Austin; long-time family friend, Russell Thostenson of Hartland; two aunts, Palma Ulland of LaPorte and Shirley Arett of Austin; nieces and nephews, Christopher (Jennie) Brekke, Lindsey Brekke, Emily Brekke, Adam Brekke, Jessica Naatz, Lee Erstad, Megan Erstad, Emma Erstad; great nieces, Emma and Isabelle Brekke; cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary June (Arett) Brekke; fiancee&8217; Carolyn Scalon in 1992; grandparents; many aunts and uncles including Ruth Arnetveit and John Nordby.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moscow Lutheran Church with the Rev. Peter Soli officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hillcrest Cemetery, rural Oakland. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
