Waseca takes down Rebels

WASECA &8212; The United South Central baseball team started the week scoring 16 runs in two wins, but in two losses to conclude the week it mustered just seven total.

The Rebels lost to Waseca Friday 11-1 in six innings as one big frame went against USC.

&8220;We are just struggling with the bats right now,&8221; USC head coach Pat Frank said. &8220;We have had a chance to get out of some innings with one more out and can&8217;t get it.&8221;

The Rebels managed just three hits in the game and got their lone run in the top of the sixth when Luke Beyer hit a solo home run.

A couple of errors led to two Waseca runs in the first before it strung hits together to put five on the board in the second. Dan Cromer would hit a two-run home run in the sixth to help end the game early.

Darin Stenzel took the loss for the Rebels as USC tried five different pitchers in the game, but Waseca pounded out 10 hits.

USC is back in action Monday when it takes to the road to face Faribault Bethlehem Academies.
