Emanuel Abrego Jr., 59, Mankato

The funeral service for Emanuel &8220;Lupe&8221; Guadalupe Abrego Jr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour before the service at the church.

Lupe died on Saturday, May 19,

2007, in Mankato. He was 59 years old.

Lupe was born in Mason City, Iowa, on March 2, 1948, the son of Manuel, Sr. and Matilda (Garcia) Abrego. He attended school in Albert Lea and Bricelyn. He lived most of his life in the Albert Lea and Mankato area. He was married to Esther Zamora in 1969 and they were later divorced.

Lupe had worked for Universal, Wilson&8217;s and Enders Tool Co. He was artistic and enjoyed doing crafts. He also enjoyed fishing.

Lupe is survived by his son, Julian Abrego and his friend, Julie Ell of Edina; two granddaughters: Jessica and Gina Abrego of Edina; one brother, Joe (Joyce) Abrego of Albert Lea; seven sisters: Phyllis (Joe) Talamantes of Albert Lea, Kathy (Frank) Diaz of Wells, Josephine (David) Olivo of Blue Earth, Mariana (Lyle) Smith of Spring Field, Mo., Margaret Abrego of Mission, Texas, Christina Ruiz of Mankato, and Angel Abrego of Mission, Texas; special friend, Eleanor Flores of Eagle Lake; special nephews, Leon Diaz and Mark Talamates and many other loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sarah Diaz; one brother, Martin Abrego; special aunt, Sarah Abrego.
