John Tenney, 77, Albert Lea

The celebration of life for John &8220;Jack&8221; R. Tenney, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. John Traufler and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, with a prayer service at 6:30.
There will also be visitation one hour before services at the church.
Jack died on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, in the Angel Wing at Good Samaritan Center.
He was 77.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1930, the son of Daniel and Margaret (Connelly) Tenney in Woburn, Mass.
Jack graduated from Woburn High School and then from Bentley College of Finance in Boston, Mass.
Jack enlisted in the National Guard 1947 and then served our country in the Air Force until 1954. Following his honorable discharge he began working at B.F. Goodrich in Akron, Ohio. He was united in marriage to Betty Toth on Sep. 14, 1957, in St. Joseph, Ohio. He continued working for B.F. Goodrich, which took them to live in Puerto Rico for a short time. In 1965, he went to work for Streater and he and Betty made their home here. He retired from Streater as vice president of sales and marketing in
1995.
They found their church home at St. Theodore.
Jack was a member of the Elks, the American Legion, the K.C. Club and the Eagles. Although he lived in Minnesota, he was not afraid to admit that he was an avid Red Sox and also Patriots fan. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, grilling and cooking and especially &8220;entertaining.&8221;
Jack is survived by his wife Betty of Albert Lea; four children: John Mark Tenney and his wife Beth Tarrant of Chicago, Ill., Michael Kevin Tenney and his wife Judith of Ononoco, Cari Gerlicher and her husband Scott of Minnetonka, and Jacalyn Miller and her husband Christopher of St. Louis Park; grandchildren: Julia, Mark, Jessica, Daniel John (D.J.), Kelsey, Hannah, Emma, Madison, Molly, Jack, Elizabeth and Catherine; great-granddauther Gabrielle; siblings Margaret &8220;Peggy&8221; Callahan
of North Redding, Mass., Richard Tenney and his wife Virginia of New Hampshire and Delores Levesques and her husband Roger of Methune, Mass.; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Daniel and Hugh &8220;Red.&8221;
Jack was a very caring and ethical man. He will most be remembered as being very vibrant and &8220;all about life.&8221; He was always wanting to bring everyone together to celebrate life with one another.
