Two cited after garage burglary

Police arrested Zachariah Roberts, 21, of rural Albert Lea for first-degree felony burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools at about 1:05 a.m. today, according to police reports. Reports indicated Roberts was arrested after a resident at 2137 Grand Ave. heard a noise outside his house, went to check on the noise and observed a male subject walking out of his garage. The subject ran out to a car, jumped in and took off.

The homeowner got the license number and called it in to police. Officers en route came across the vehicle and stopped it. Also cited were Cody Alan Baseman, 19, of Albert Lea for aiding in the theft and for possession of stolen property. Police reports stated credit cards stolen from the residence were recovered along Hammer Road. Also recovered were a stereo and CD case from a theft on Garfield Avenue.

Police cited a 17-year-old boy for open bottle charges, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday after officers checked a vehicle parked against a building in Eberhardt Park, according to police reports. Reports indicated a 16-year-old girl was also cited for illegal consumption. Several occupants were found in the vehicle.

Woman cited

Police cited Keshia Schoppers, 21, of Albert Lea for fourth-degree misdemeanor DWI charges at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday after police received a complaint of a possible drunk driver leaving a bar in town, according to reports. Reports indicated officers located the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Broadway Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for speeding on Main Street.
