Leonard Goldman, 86, Onamia

Leonard Goldman, age 86, of Onamia, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Lake Song Assisted Living Center in Onamia.

Leonard was born on Sept. 20, 1920, to Erick and Laurina (Nielson) Goldman in Freeborn County. He attended country school and worked on the family farm. Leonard enlisted in the

United States Army on June 6, 1942. He was awarded a bronze star, three overseas service bars and a good conduct metal. Leonard received an honorable discharge on Oct. 25, 1945.

He was united in marriage to the late Betty Hendrickson on Feb. 21, 1946. The couple worked various jobs. In 1965 Leonard operated Petes Place up until his retirement in 1976. He enjoyed his retirement years in the Mille Lacs area where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. In 1985 Leonard was united in marriage to Audrey Schneppenheim. Being with friends and family was how the couple enjoyed spending their time.

Leonard is survived by his wife Audrey (Katy) Goldman of Onamia; sons: David (Janice) Goldman of Austin and Daniel (Janet) Goldman of Austin; stepsons: Michael (Judy) Schneppenheim of Coon Rapids and Eddie Schneppenheim of South Bend, Wash.; stepdaughters: Kathy (Elmer) Faust of Pierz, Cecile (Jerry) Dahlgren of Rogers, Therese (Mark) Manley of Coon Rapids and Olivia (Greg) Root of Minnetrista; brothers: Edwin Goldman of St. Paul, Donald (Arline) Goldman of Big Lake and Norman Goldman of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters: Doris Wedge of Chaska, Ann Rapp of Arizona and June (Leo) Buchan of Arizona; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; parents, Erick and Laurina; and brothers: Magnus, Leonard, Alvin, Paul and Kenneth.

Services were held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at Bethesda Lutheran Church of Malmo.
