Mabel Mary Twedell, 84, of Austin, died Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Sacred Heart Care Center in Austin.
She was born Oct. 27, 1922, to Jim and Agnes Svejkovsky. Mabel graduated from Austin High School in 1941 and was married to George E. Twedell on Oct. 2, 1948, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 2002. Mabel lived her entire life in Austin except for residing a brief time in California.
Mabel was a lifelong member of Western Fraternal Lodge No. 38 and was proud to wear her 75-year member pin. Her favorite pasttime of plastic needlework allowed her to make beautiful craft items for all of her friends.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Barry Twedell of Austin, Brad (Diane) Twedell of Albert Lea and Brent Twedell of Lyle; sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith of Austin; and brother-in-law, Ted Getchell of Austin.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Jim, Edwin and Harold Svejkovsky.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with the Rev. Dale Tupper officiating.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a 7 p.m. wake service today at the Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church an hour before the service.
