Raynold Knudtson, 84, Ellendale

Memorial services for Raynold B. Knudtson of rural Ellendale, will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m.
at the Community Lutheran Church of Geneva. Pastor Joel Xaiver will officiate. Friends may greet the family from 5 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. There will be an opportunity for you to share your stories of Raynold&8217;s life at 7 p.m. Military honors will be accorded by the Owatonna Area Veterans Groups.
Raynold died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his home in rural Ellendale. He was 84 years of age.
Raynold was born May 19, 1923, in Bricelyn, the son of Otis and Emma (Larson) Knudtson. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1942. On Nov. 26, 1943 he was united in marriage to Mavis Greene at the parsonage in Hayward.
Raynold served during WWII in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge he farmed near Bricelyn, until 1950 when they moved to a farm near Ellendale. He retired from farming in 1982.
Raynold was a member of the Community Lutheran Church in Geneva where he taught Sunday school and was a member of the church council. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for 16 years. Raynold served on the township board for 16 years and was on the Geneva ASC Board.
Raynold loved to travel, hunt and fish and play any game he could with the grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, loved bowling, ping pong and horseshoes. He also enjoyed pro sports on TV.
Raynold is survived by his wife, Mavis, one son, Joe, and his wife, Wendy, of Waseca, three grandchildren, Ebony, Skyla and John. There are two great grandchildren, Rae Anne, and Eli Isaac. Also surviving are three brothers, two sisters and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Raynold was &8220;put on earth to help the less fortunate.&8221; He will be sadly missed by many.
