&8220;This is a great way to meet your sheriffs, ride with them for the day, meet our Red Cross personnel and bring out awareness to the communities of the intricate planning and coordination that is conducted through emergency management for public safety needs,&8221; said Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig in a press release.

&8220;We rely on the American Red Cross volunteers to help coordinate the various emergency responses that the public has taken for granted. Volunteers are what make these responses able to be handled.&8221;

He said this week Freeborn County Red Cross was sending supplies and assistance to Rochester to help with the flooding in southeast Minnesota.
