Albert Lea sophomore Sophie Miller was selected as an honorable mention all-state performer in Class A girls&8217; soccer.

Miller helped key a defensive attack that shutdown opponents throughout the season and allowed the Tigers&8217; offense to stay on the attack.

Despite playing defense, Miller ended the regular season with four goals and a pair of assists for Albert Lea. She has also provided leadership in the back on a team without a great number of seniors.

This is the second year in a row the Albert Lea girls&8217; soccer team has put a player on the state squad. Miller joins Whitney Wilson off of last year&8217;s team with the honor.

She will help lead her team when it begins its state tournament run Friday. The Tigers face top-ranked Blake at Hopkins High School at 5:30 p.m.
