Rebels end team run at state

MINNEAPOLIS &8212; The United South Central girls&8217; tennis team concluded its run at the state meet Thursday by falling to 10-time defending champion Rochester Lourdes in the consolation final, 6-1.
The Rebels&8217; lone win came at No. 2 doubles where the team of Emma Stenzel and Kellie Robbins completed a perfect doubles season with 27 wins. They downed Kelsey Koranda and Cara McGrane 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
At No. 1 singles, Lourdes&8217; Alexa Palen downed Andrea Allis 6-0, 6-0, Carolyn Schmitz lost to Courtney Rust 1-6, 3-6, Jordan Anderson fell to Mary Utz 5-7, 4-6 in a very competitive match and Margaret Pearson downed Taylor Allis 3-6, 2-6.
USC&8217;s top doubles team of Jessica Stensrud and Molly Yokiel fell 0-6, 2-6 and Amanda Huper and Cami Christian lost 3-6, 3-6.
Mounds Park Academy, which beat Lourdes in the quarterfinals, went on to take the team title 4-3 over St. James. The Rebels pushed St. James in their opening-round quarterfinal before USC came up just short 3-4.
