Robert Dale Johnson, 83, of Wells, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Parkview Care Center Wells. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Wells. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the chruch on Saturday. The Rev. Art Keith will officiate. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.
Robert Johnson was born on Oct. 14, 1934, in Wells, the son of Andrew and Ida (DeWinter) Johnson. He graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1942. He farmed in the Wells and Waldorf areas his whole life. His hobby was farming, he enjoyed his career raising livestock and crop farming. He was a member of Central Methodist Church (before the fire) and currently a member of United Methodist Church in Wells. He enjoyed traveling, Civil War history and he especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were all his pride and joy.
Robert is survived by his wife Willma (of 60 years) of Wells; three sons, Neil (Marlene) Johnson of Denver, Colo., Charlie (Deb) Johnson of Wells, Scott (Linda) Johnson of Wells; nine grandchildren: Rebecca (Tom) Schnoor, Rob (Nickie) Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Heather (special friend Brad), Nicki (Paul) Dambowy, Darin (Rachel) Johnson, Missy (Brad) Roux, Amber (special friend Andy) and Lindsay Johnson; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers: Andrew (Clarice) Johnson of Wells and LaVerne Johnson of Wells; one sister: Darlene Redman of Wells; two sisters-in-law: Margaret Johnson of Wells and Loretta Johnson of Alden; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Gary Lee Johnson (in 2002); seven sisters; and three brothers.
