Three Iowans named to all-state football team

Three area Iowa football players were selected to the all-state team by the Iowa Newspaper Association Wednesday.
In Class 1A, Lake Mills had a pair of selections while Class A Northwood-Kensett had one.
Lake Mills, which finished the season with a 6-3 record, played both of its all-staters on the defensive side of the ball.
Leading the way was linebacker Lars Christianson who was named to the first team. Christianson finished the season with 46 tackles and five sacks. He also ran for over 200 yards as the team&8217;s fullback and had 10 total touchdowns.
The Bulldogs&8217; other all-stater was linebacker Spenser Brackey who was named to the third team. Brackey finished the season as Lake Mills&8217; leading tackler with 145 while concluding his career with 304. He was the district&8217;s defensive MVP.
The Vikings lone selection was defensive back Jake Weisert who was named to the second team. He led N-K with five interceptions on the season and added 42 tackles. Weisert was second on the team in rushing with 642 yards and eight total touchdowns.
N-K concluded its season with a 6-3 mark overall.
