Funeral services for Harry (Pat) Petersen, 88, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Harry died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, at St. Mary&8217;s Hospital in Rochester.
Harry (Pat) Milton Petersen was born on May 3, 1919, to Jens and Jacobine (Nielsen) Petersen in Albert Lea. Pat was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea, and was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended country school in rural Albert Lea. After school, Pat served in the State Guard during WWII and was awarded the State Guard service ribbon. He married Mary Helen Leidal on June 30, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran. Pat worked for the Coop Creamery, then for the Coop Oil Company. He drove a school bus, worked for the Albert Lea Police Dept. and the Moose Lodge for 17 years. Pat was a member of the Moose Lodge in Albert Lea where he was a Pilgrim member and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and making gifts for others.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen; children, Jim Petersen of Hastings, and special friend Jill Cramer, Cathy Petersen of Blue Earth, Mark (Yun Cha) Petersen of South Korea; grandchildren, Chet Petersen of Cottage Grove and his mother Donna Petersen of Albert Lea. Holly (Jason) Studier of Sun Prairie, Wis., Jackie, Kelley and Jenny Petersen all of South Korea; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Noah, Paul and Ellie Studier; brothers, Bob ( Marcia) Petersen, and John (MaryAnn) Petersen both of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dennisse (Niels) Nielsen; and brother, Axel (Joyce) Petersen.
