Ivo Reindal, 85, of California

Ivo Anna (Hoeg) Reindal, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Dec.15, 2007. Ivo was born on Nov. 25, 1922, in Alden Township to Martin and Clara (Skov) Hoeg. She is survived by her son, Bruce R. Reindal of Encinitas, Calif., and her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bruce Quade of San Clemente, Calif. Grandma Ivo is also survived by her three grandchildren Erik Quade, Kirsten (Quade) Hollis, and Douglas Reindal and her great grandchild Haaken Quade. Also survived by her sister-in-law Violet Hoeg of Wells and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Donald Hoeg and Orville Hoeg, her identical twin sister Norma Rebelein, brother-in-law Floyd Rebelein and sister-in-law Virginia Hoeg.
Ivo started her teaching career in rural schools in Minnesota and taught in the Alden Conger Schools from 1959 to 1978. She was a graduate of Alden High School, Mankato State University and completed a masters degree in elementary education. After moving to San Clemente, Calif., in 1978, she joyously gave of her time as a volunteer teacher with Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church School and Concordia Elementary School. She loved teaching children who needed special help in reading, phonics and math. Her career in teaching lasted over 50 years.
Ivo enjoyed many years as a member of the San Clemente Lawn Bowling Club and received four medals in the Senior Olympic Games &8212; one gold, two silver, and one bronze.
Ivo loved music and line dancing.
She was a member of the San Clemente Novelty Band where she created music programs to entertain seniors in the local community. As an avid Lakers and Angels fan, she rarely missed a game.
In 2001 Ivo was selected as Citizen of the Day in the Daily Sun Post newspaper for her love of life and the way she shared it with others. She was also an active member of her church, Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran in San Clemente.
Ivo&8217;s positive attitude, genuine joy and compassion for others made her a remarkable role model for many. She loved the Lord, lived well and left a legacy of love.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 at Our Savior&8217;s Lutheran Church in San Clemente, Calif. Interment services in Alden are pending.
