Seventh-ranked Albert Lea wrestling team dominates Mankato West, 62-3

MANKATO &8212; The No. 7-ranked Albert Lea wrestling team dominated Mankato West to pick up its first Big Nine Conference win of the season 62-3, Friday.

Head coach Larry Goodnature was pleased with all of his wrestlers.

&8220;Our varsity and our JV wrestlers were all aggressive tonight and went out there looking for the pin,&8221; he said.

Third-ranked Cory Hansen got the Tigers started with a 15-0 technical fall over Hunter Frisen at 103 and top-ranked Cody Hansen followed with another technical fall at 112 22-7.

Kyle Kriewall would extend the Tigers&8217; lead to 16-0 with a pin in 3:13 at 119.

Albert Lea&8217;s Adam Clark was downed by Dan Thompson 8-5 at 125 before the Tigers&8217; No. 9 Trevor Rasmussen recieved a forfeit at 130.

Connor Kortan kept the Tigers winning with a 6-0 victory at 135.

&8220;We had three freshmen in the lineup with Corey, Kyle and Connor and they all did very well wrestling against juniors and seniors,&8221; Goodnature said.

Third-ranked Logan Kortan was a winner by technical fall at 140 19-4 over Jordan Dalluge, and Adam Kermes earned a late takedown for a 4-2 win over Zach Enz.

&8220;Trevor was down the whole match but he never stopped fighting,&8221; Goodnature said. &8220;The whole team was like that and the takedowns on the night were very lopsided in our favor.&8221;

Anthony Tippett pinned Kyle Hansen, Jordan Holland was a 15-9 winner and Logan Hansen was a 17-8 major decision victor for the Tigers.

Jon Kluver had the fastest pin of the night for the Tigers needing just 39 seconds to stick Evan Jones at 189.

Seventh-ranked Ethan Reed blanked Brandon Ross 5-0 at 215 and Andrew Peterson ended the dual with a pin in 1:38 at heavyweight.

The Tigers were in Kasson for a dual tournament Saturday.
