Rachel Marie Neiswanger, 91, of Austin, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Austin Medical Center.
She was born April 27, 1916, in Austin, to Arthur and Erma (Douglas) Weseman.
In 1934, Rachel graduated from Austin High School. On June 27, 1937, she was married to David Clare Neiswanger in Northfield. She was the founder of Mower Vehicle Registration, Inc, where she was a Deputy Registrar. Rachel was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the League of Women Voters, the DFL, and AARP. She served as the past president of PTA and was also past president of the League of Women Voters. In 1950, Rachel managed the 1950 Census of Mower County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Neiswanger; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kristi Koppel Officiating. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and at St. Olaf Lutheran Church one hour before the service.
Rachel is survived by her daughters: Tucky Ann and the Rev. Kinley Eittreim of Birmingham, Ala., and Jane Clare and Lyman Lundquist of Austin, Texas; sons: Stephen Edward Neiswanger of Austin and Kurt David Neiswanger and Robbie Levine of Robbinsdale; grandchildren: Mark and Debbie Eittreim, Susan and Mark Power, Garrick Lundquist and Lance and Melodie Lundquist; great-grandchildren: Sean Power, Matthew Power; sister: Eugenia Kahl-Bush of Grand Meadow; nieces and nephews; and special friend: Casper.
Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or the American Stroke Association.
