Victor Zajicek, 90, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Victor &8220;Vic&8221; Zajicek, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations. Friends may visit with family one hour before the service at the church. Interment will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Victor was born on Jan. 11, 1918, in Wilber, Neb., the son of Joseph and Effie Zajicek. He attended school in Nebraska and then worked on the family farm. He served our country in the U.S. Army for 4 years.
Vic was united in marriage to Thelma Prusha on Nov. 22, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC. Following his return from the service Vic went to carpenter school and also worked in the Buick garage. Vic and Thelma moved and made their home in Albert Lea in the &8220;50&8217;s. He worked at Wilson and Co. for more than 26 years before retiring.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the Eagles.
Vic was hardworking and a talented carpenter as well, remodeling each home they lived in. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, card parties, dancing, walking, going out for coffee and meeting and visiting with friends at McDonalds and Health Reach.
Vic died on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
He was 90.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma; children: Donna (Morris) Hassebrock of Webster City, Iowa, Patricia (Robert) Forman of Albert Lea and Vicky (Dean) Haroldson of Monks Corners, S.C.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother Elmer (Lovella) Zajicek of Crete, Neb.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Arlene Zajicek of Crete, Neb., Donna Ruth and Daryl Kos of Missouri, Donald and Margaret Prusha of Owatonna; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Irvin.
