Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial downs the Knights to take fifth at Valley Conference Tourney

TRIMONT &8212; The Alden-Conger boys&8217; basketball team came up short in its fifth-place game against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at the Valley Conference Tournament Saturday.

The Knights could not keep up with the pace set by LCWM and fell 69-42.

A-C was led by Paul Little&8217;s 18 points and Sam Hallman added nine.

&8220;We just got outplayed and we looked tired the whole game,&8221; A-C head coach Bill Hintz said.

The loss drops the Knights to 10-11 on the season.

Owat. 69, Albert Lea 39

OWATONNA &8212; A 5-0 run late in the first half helped Owatonna stretch its lead to 22-16 over Albert Lea and the Huskies went on to down the Tigers 69-39 Saturday.

Sean Templeman led the Tigers with 10 points and Spencer Droz added eight.

A slow start by the Tigers to begin the second half allowed Owatonna to put together a 18-4 run and put the game away.

Albert Lea was able to stay with the Huskies through much of the first half keeping the scoring down until that final burst before halftime.

The Tigers are now 1-18 on the season and play at Rochester Century on Tuesday.
