Shirley Oman, 85, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Shirley Elaine Oman of Albert Lea will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.
Shirley died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 85 years old.
Shirley was born April 10, 1922, in Albert Lea to Henry and Clara (Christensen) Johnson. She has been a lifetime Albert Lea resident and graduated from Albert Lea High School. Shirley was a member of First Lutheran Church and had taught Sunday School. During Word WarII Shirley worked in Kentucky working on airplanes. She enjoyed baking all types of cakes (wedding, anniversary, and birthday). She had been a bowling instructor for the Town Club Bowling Lanes, served on the election board as an election judge, belonged to the West Side Bunco Club. She also enjoyed growing plants and watching humming birds enjoy their bird feeder. Most especially Shirley was a kind soft hearted person.
Shirley is survived by her husband: Kenneth Oman of Albert Lea; three children: Sue Weberg and her husband Larry, Steve Oman and his wife Kari and Scott Oman, all of Albert Lea; six grandchildren: Jeff Weberg, Stacia Martinez, Michelle Woods, Steven Oman, Ajay Oman and Cassie Oman; seven great-grandchildren: Angela, Amber, Alicia, Ericha, Janette, Samantha and Courtney; two great-great-grandchildren: Evan and Ariana; six brothers:
Henry Johnson and his wife Marge of Washington, Robert Johnson and his wife Evelyn of Albert Lea, Richard Johnson and his wife Debra of Eden Prairie, Roger Johnson and his wife Donna of St. Louis Park, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Evelyn of Bemidji and Larry Johnson and his wife Sandra of Albert Lea, and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Clara Johnson; five sisters: Violet Matthies, Janet Schwartz, Dorothy Selland, Kitty Gilmore and Betty Westrum; and infant son Jimmy.
