The annual meeting of the Albert Lea Farmers Market will be Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at K&K Bakery, 1105 S. Broadway Ave., Albert Lea.
The farmers market is a nonprofit organization to support and assist local producers in marketing their products, and provide local consumers with fresh, tasty and unique products. The consumer is also able to establish a personal connection with the grower or producer of these products, and support the local economy.
Some of the products that can be sold are fresh vegetables and fruits, herbs, most home-baked goods (excluding cream or meringue pies, cream puffs, cream cheese frosting), homemade jams (not sugar-free) dehydrated fruits, vegetables, and herbs, eggs, bedding plants, cut flowers, potted plants, bulbs, craft items made by the seller and meats (must comply with Minnesota regulations). All these products must be grown or made by the seller, and the seller must live within 35 miles of Albert Lea.
The market is setup in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot. It begins in mid-May and runs through the end of October each Wednesday 4 to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a vendor or who would like more information about the market is welcome at the meeting. Those who would like more information but cannot attend should contact Verlys Huntley at 297-5546.
