Ardine Solum, 86, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Ardine Solum, 86, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mansfield Lutheran Church. The Rev. Don Rose will officiate. Interment will be at the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ardine died Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Ardine Meta Louise Solum was born on July 15, 1921, to Ervin and Marie (Meissener) Jahnke in Albert Lea. She was a lifelong resident of Freeborn County. Ardine attended rural school. She married Chester Solum on Oct. 15, 1941, at Mansfield Lutheran Church. Ardine enjoyed being a wife and mother. She was a lifetime member of Mansfield Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies&8217; aid and other church organizations. Ardine enjoyed embroidery, canning, baking, and spending time with her family. She and Chester together enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
Survivors include her children, Robert and wife, Jean Solum of Owatonna, Mary Frisbie of Faribault, David and wife, VeeAnn Solum of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Judy and husband Glenn Oelerking of St. Paul; son-in-law, Barry and wife Kris Heine of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Traci Hauge, Todd Solum, Timothy Solum, Rhonda Schrot, Ranae Frisbie, Ethan Solum, Sheila Beckman, Brian Heine, Scott Oelerking, Stacy Oelerking; three step grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; brother, Vernon Jahnke; brother-in-law, Carl Solum; sister-in-law, Joy Solum; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ardine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester; daughter, Diane Heine; son, Gary Solum; brother and wife, Wilbert and Lucille Jahnke; and sister-in-law, Marion Jahnke.
