A memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara S. Berg of Eden Prairie will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 5, at Westwood Community Church, 3121 Westwood Drive, Excelsior.

Barb passed away on March 22, 2008, following a battle with cancer.

Barb was born on March 9, 1962, in Austin to Dave and Carol King. She graduated from Austin High School in 1980 and Austin College in 1982. She then attended the University of Minnesota and received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota&8217;s School of Medicine. Barb became a partner with Southdale Pediatrics in 1985, working primarily from the Eden Prairie and Edina locations.

Barb had a passion for travel, cooking, gardening, reading, her pets and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Barb will be missed by her family, many friends and patients&8217; families she came to know throughout her career as a pediatrician.

Barb is survived by her husband, Jim Berg of Eden Prairie (born/raised in Austin); parents, Dave and Carol King of Austin; brother, Brian King of Austin; father and mother-in-law, Bob and Laurie Berg, Austin; sisters-in-law, Jan (Dale) Thorn, Lonetree, Colo., and LuAnn Kasak, Apple Valley; brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) Berg, Rochester; nieces and nephews, Robert (Andrea) and son Porter Kasak, Minneapolis, Kelly Berg, Minneapolis, Daniel and Madalyn Berg, Rochester, Abby Thorn, Fort Collins, Colo., and Tyler Thorn, Lonetree, Colo.
