Fire consumes vehicle in rural Albert Lea

Travis William Iverson was driving by a home in rural Freeborn County Wednesday afternoon and noticed smoke coming from the shed at the Wangen&8217;s farm, 22783 850th Avenue in Albert Lea.
The farm is located north of Freeborn County Road 46 on Freeborn County Road 30 out by the Oakland ball park, according to Sheriff Mark Harig.
Iverson told police at 1:28 p.m. he heard several small explosions coming from inside the shed, according to reports. Hayward, Hollandale and Myrtle fire departments responded to the fire.
Resident Nick Wangen told police he moved a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix inside the open, metal machine shed earlier in the day. According to reports the fire started in the car&8217;s front left corner where the car&8217;s computer is located.
The Pontiac was a total loss, reports state. A 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck in the shed was damaged in the fire.
No one was injured, Harig said.
Two arrested for marijuana possession
Steven Allen Butler, 51, and Rodney Lee Anderson, 43, were arrested at 11:57 a.m. Wednesday at the corner of 700th Avenue and 220th Street in Albert Lea, according to police reports. During a traffic stop, Butler and Anderson were arrested for fifth degree possession of marijuana, reports state.
