Susan Borland, 47, Prior Lake

Funeral services for Susan Elleen Borland of Prior Lake will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery.
Susan died Friday evening, Feb. 29, 2008, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis from complications of heart surgery. She was 47 years old.
Susan was born Sept. 9, 1960, in Winnebago, the adopted daughter of Robert and Betty (Walk) Guenther. She was a graduate of Albert Lea High School and Albert Lea Community College.
On Sept. 29, 1984, she was united in marriage to Dwight Borland at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. Together they have made their home in Prior Lake for the past 23 years. Susan was a member of St. Michael&8217;s Catholic Church in Prior Lake and a member of the Albert Lea American Legion Auxiliary. She had been employed as office manager for Associated Realtors in Prior Lake. She was also a supervisor at the Hidden Oaks Middle School in Prior Lake.
Susan enjoyed antiques, exhibiting at the Freeborn County Fair, her dogs, her flower garden, Christmas and all of the holidays. She always made everyone feel welcome in her home. She loved people.
Susan is survived by her husband Dwight of Prior Lake; parents Robert and Betty Guenther of Alden; birth mother Mavis Huntley of Blue Earth; children Dwight Borland Jr. of Prior Lake; and foster son Jason Guenther of Prior Lake. There is one granddaughter, Karley Sue Guenther.
Also surviving are two brothers Daniel (Liz) Guenther of Prior Lake and Duane (Nancy) Rorman of Blue Earth; and sister Ann (J.R.) Huntley of Blue Earth. In-laws surviving include Richard Jr. (Lynn) Borland of Edina, Rebecca (Chuck) Kaye of Santa Barbara, Calif., Timothy (Kathy) Borland of Austin, Daniel (Linda) Borland of Albert Lea, Elizabeth (Ray) Vreedenburgh of Maui, Hawaii, Matthew (Deb) Borland of Albert Lea, Theresa (Reid) Sunde of Waseca and Christopher (Janice) Borland of Albert Lea. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles also survive her.
Susan was preceded in death by one brother, Timothy Guenther; grandparents Edward and Ruth Walk and Lincoln and Thelma Guenther; and in-laws, Richard and Anita Borland.
