Albert Lea Blades win 2 tourneys, post perfect mark

The Albert Lea Blades men&8217;s amateur hockey team completed a perfect season by winning the fourth annual A Division of the Brian Fazio Hockey Tournament in Mankato over the weekend of March 15 and 16.

The Blades opened the weekend on Saturday evening with 6-4 win over Billy&8217;s Live Bait out of Eagan. In the semi-final on Sunday morning the Blades defeated Boomtown out of Mankato 5-2.

It was then off to the finals for the Blades who pulled out the championship in a shoot-out win over The Gong Show, out of Columbia Heights, by the score of 2-1.

With the victory the Blades become back-to-back champions of the tournament and have now won the tournament three out of the last six years.

The Blades also won The Windom Men&8217;s Hockey Tournament over the weekend of Feb. 2 and 3 in Windom. The Blades opened the tournament with an 11-2 win over Windom on Saturday morning, then beat St. Louis Park in the semi&8217;s 8-2 on Saturday evening and went on to win the championship game over Chaska 8-2 on Sunday.
