AUSTIN &8212; The Albert Lea boys&8217; tennis team continued to struggle Tuesday afternoon in its 7-0 loss to the Packers in Austin.
&8220;I thought we played OK, but obviously we have a lot to do yet to get to where we want to be,&8221; Tigers head coach Sean Gillam said. &8220;We have to keep getting better or we are going to be on the losing end of a lot of these matches to come.&8221;
At No. 1 singles Jon Bosma faced yet again the best the opponent had to offer and lost 1-6, 1-6. Drew Passingham continued to play well at No. 2 singles but drop match in two sets 3-6, 2-6. At No. 3 singles Ben Robinson lost the first set 2-6, then won 7-6, 7-5 before losing 8-10 in the super-tiebreaker. Joe Polis rounded out the singles line-up at No. 4 with a 1-6, 5-7 loss.
In doubles competition the No. 1 team of Evan Nolander and Kyle See-Rockers lost 1-6, 2-6. At No. 2 doubles Jake Thompson and Noah Christopherson fell 0-6, 1-6. And at No. 3 doubles the team of Kevin Zogg and Eric Volkman dropped their match 3-6, 1-6.
The schedule doesn&8217;t get any easier for the Tigers as they move deeper into the Big Nine season when they travel to Owatonna on Thursday.
