WELLS &8212; The United South Central baseball team (6-3) made it four wins in a row Tuesday afternoon with a 13-2 rout of Medford.
Trailing 1-0 after two innings USC blew the game open in the bottom of the third with a nine run onslaught, then added two in the fourth and two more in the sixth to finish off the Tigers by 11 in six innings.
&8220;I feel pretty good about the way we have been playing, especially since we have been juggling the lineup a bit,&8221; said Rebels head coach Pat Frank. &8220;We still need to get some offense from more of the lineup, but right now we are playing pretty good ball.&8221;
For the second consecutive game Kevin George and Jake Bonsack were all the offense USC needed. George went 2-for-5 with two doubles and five RBIs while Bonsack added two hits in four at bats with two doubles and an RBI.
Andrew Penning pitched a solid four innings for the Rebels, allowing two runs while giving up just three hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
&8220;We are getting ready to face some pretty stiff competition here the next week or two,&8221; Frank said. &8220;It&8217;s time to tighten up the shoe laces, get a little more intense, and just keep playing good baseball.&8221;
With the win the Rebels improve to 5-1 in the Gopher conference and will travel to Mankato Thursday to face a 6-1 Loyola team.
