Alden-Conger softball loses in slugfest

The Alden-Conger softball team battled back in the middle innings, but gave up too many runs in the early innings to get back in the game Monday in a 14-9 loss against St. Clair.
The Cyclones (5-4 overall, 4-4 Valley) grabbed five runs over the first two innings, but the Knights scored four in the top of the third to climb to within one run.
St. Clair added a run in the bottom half of the third, two in the fourth for a 8-4 lead.
Once again in the fifth Alden-Conger (1-6 overall, 1-4 Valley) scored four runs and tied the game at eight apiece.
The Cyclones, however, scored five runs to overpower the Knights.
