Carol Utter, 74, Eagan

Carol Utter, 74, from Eagan, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2008, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 10, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Dayle and Dorothy Kretzinger. She has been a member of Advent United Methodist Church in Eagan.
Carol graduated from high school in Mason City, Iowa, in 1951. She married Robert Utter in 1953 and together they were blessed with three children. Carol went on to graduate from Minnesota State at Mankato with a degree in sociology. Her passion for helping others led her to jobs as a social worker first in Freeborn County and then spending the remainder of her career at Dakota County before retiring 10 years ago.
Carol had many interests. Her love of music and other cultural events were always a special part of her life. There are many fond memories listening to her playing the piano at special family gatherings. She loved going to museums, plays, and was actively involved in political happenings. Reading was always a part of her desire to learn more. Later in life she enjoyed winters in Florida and playing golf with close friends and family.
Carol is survived by daughter Cheryl (Roy) Page of Albert Lea, son Jay (Sheryl) Utter of Lake Crystal, son Tom Utter of Buffalo, her sister Cathie (Larry) Watson, her grandchildren, Ross and Aubree Page, Adam and Andrew Utter, Kendra Utter, and her nephews Jeff and John Watson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dayle and Dorothy Kretzinger.
Memorial services will be at the United Methodist Church, 702 South Highway 69, Albert Lea, on Friday at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Bonnerup Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
