Funeral services for Darlene Marie Griffith, 80, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Church of Christ. The Rev. Michael Gerhardt will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.

Darlene died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.

Darlene Marie Griffith was born on July 17, 1927, to Vertus and Emma (Dretsch) Hass in Harris, Iowa. Darlene was united in marriage to Francis Griffith on April 14, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa. The family moved to the Albert Lea area in 1964 when Darlene’s husband was transferred with the Minnesota State Highway Patrol. Darlene had been a member of the Church of Christ for 43 years. She enjoyed baking, traveling, dancing and spending time at the lake. Darlene loved the time she spent with her many friends and family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include children, Terry (Elaine) Griffith of Lusk, Wyo., Penny (Bob) Donner of Rochester, Wayne (Grace) Griffith of Albert Lea, Debra (Paul) Leif of Austin, Oren Griffith of Glenville and Nicole Griffith of Albert Lea; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and sister, Verna Schwarting of Cherokee Village, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Margaret Hass, LeAnna Hass and Ruth Hass.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Vertus; husband, Francis; brothers, Ellery, Ed (Hank) and Dale.
