What do you cut when the increased prices of food and fuel pinch your household budget?

Did you know there are more than $10,000 worth of coupons a year in the Albert Lea Tribune?

We don&8217;t tout the savings in the newspaper that often, but we should. Many wise spenders already know that subscribing to the local newspaper pays for itself in the form of savings. You don&8217;t get that kind of assistance to your pocketbook from cable television or from your Internet provider. When it is time to cut, look at what helps you save, too.

People are willing to pay $1.50 for a 20-ounce bottle of pop and not think twice. The price of pop has gone up incrementally over the years.

Meanwhile, newspapers have worked hard to keep the counter price at 50 cents. That&8217;s a bargain. Plus, there are deals in the newspaper to help you buy your pop at lower prices.

In a time of an economic crunch, people need the paper more than ever. Not only do you get coupons, you get information. Staying informed helps you make smart household choices.

We aren&8217;t writing this because of any subscription problems. The Albert Lea Tribune and the Albert Lea area go hand in hand because we are a community newspaper, not an aloof metro newspaper. We are writing this simply so you &8212; when you look at your househouse budget &8212; think twice before canceling the paper. It&8217;s good to be informed.
