Rueben Foth, 86, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Rueben Foth, 86, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m.,
Friday at Manchester Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Schmidt will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Rueben died on Monday, May 19, 2008, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Rueben Foth was born on Oct. 11, 1921, to Isaac and Hannah (Pankanian) Foth in Windom. Rueben attended Windom area schools and then worked on a mink farm in Alexandria. Rueben married Sylvia Mae Purrington on Feb. 12, 1944, in Windom. The couple moved to the Albert Lea area in 1967 where he was employed as a welder at Continental Castings. Rueben attended Manchester Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as custodian. He was also a member of the Albert Lea Eagles Club and the Steele Workers Union. Rueben also worked as a grounds keeper for the Hillcrest Cemetery.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing pool and cards with friends. Rueben was also a big sports fan.
Survivors include his children, Susan Mae Foth Maricle and her husband, Roy of Des Moines, Iowa, Patricia Ann Foth Shoemake and her husband Ralph of Indianapolis, Ind., Karen Julia Foth Arhart and her husband Dale of Northwood, Iowa; grandchildren, Sandra, Jon, Jennifer, Amy, Cindy, Mark and Jeff; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Walter Foth of Jackson, sister, Mabel Heibert of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
Rueben was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia; brothers, Bill, Alfred and Harry; sisters Luella and Linda.
