Sunday morning at park tradition continues

Church has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Every Sunday I wake up bright and early to, hopefully, arrive on time to church and start my day off with a bang.
Now that I’m back home, I get to experience all the wonderful things I enjoyed while I was growing up in Albert Lea. You have all heard me write about my experiences at college, but I will always testify that Albert Lea is my home. There are things about this town that no other place will ever be able to replace.
One of the great things I love about Albert Lea is the summertime. Things are in bloom, the lake is filled with boats and every Sunday morning I wake up to church at Myre-Big Island.
My family and I have been attending church at Myre-Big Island in the summertime for as long as I can remember. I love sitting outside with Albert Lea Lake in front of me, trees above my head and nature all around me. It’s a beautiful place to worship, and the best part about it is that everyone is welcome.
My family has been attending these church services long before I came around and whenever I’m home, I hope to continue on with this tradition. For anyone out there who has attended these services, you know how beautiful they are. For those who have yet to attend, you know have a whole summer ahead of you to experience the magic of church at Myre-Big Island.
Conveniently, services at the state park are starting up this Sunday, June 1. Personally, I can’t wait to breathe some fresh air while the Rev. Dan Baker of First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea speaks. The service is non-denominational and lasts around 30 minutes.
Even more of an incentive for everyone to get out Myre-Big Island is that this Sunday is Open House Sunday at the state park, so there is no need to purchase a park sticker. You can enjoy a 30-minute church service and then spend the day at the park.
So to all of you, I hope to see you on Sunday at the Myre-Big Island church service.
