The on-again, off-again offense of the Glenville-Emmons baseball team was off Thursday in a 9-1 loss to Mabel-Canton.

The Wolverines (9-7 overall, 8-4 Southeast) struggled at the plate, scoring one run on four hits and striking out 12 times.

&8220;We got behind right away and we just didn&8217;t even threaten,&8221; Glenville-Emmons head coach Louie Toulouse said. &8220;We looked at too many pitches.&8221;

The team has been most successful when it has been aggressive at the plate but that wasn&8217;t the case against the Cougars.

Mabel-Canton&8217;s pitcher recorded 15 of the 21 outs as he struck out 12 and had three balls hit back up the middle to him.

Spencer Kral hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh to break the shut out.

The Wolverines will try to work things out at the plate today against Alden-Conger in the regular season finale before section playoffs begin May 20.

&8220;Baseball is a streaky game, a couple of guys get hits and guys get excited,&8221; Toulouse said. &8220;Hopefully we&8217;ll come out of this before playoffs.&8221;
