Flying J construction runs into snag

Flying J Inc. announced this morning that the Flying J Travel Plaza in Albert Lea, on which construction began in the summer of 2007, is continuing, with completion anticipated in late 2008 or 2009.
Due to structural failure in a section of Doyle Avenue directly adjacent to the proposed Flying J auto entrance, and because of time requirements for regulating agencies to review and grant approvals for the re-construction of the effected area, a construction slowdown has been required. This forced delay was not anticipated nor welcomed by Flying J Inc., according to a news release. However, unforeseen problems must be resolved. Because of the location of the failure, construction on the building has also been delayed.
“We have been aggressively pursuing the required approvals for this re-construction and hope to ramp up construction in the summer of 2008 with completion of the Plaza late this year or next year,” the release states.
“As always, we are looking forward to opening our Travel Plaza in Albert Lea and know that it will be a great addition to not only our company but also to the greater area of Albert Lea.”
