Representatives from the Albert Lea Fire Department visited Halvorson Elementary School Tuesday  to honor Anna Englin. Anna is in Mrs. Loos’ fifth grade class.

Back in November, Anna’s poster won first place in Albert Lea’s local Fire Prevention Week Contest. Her poster was then entered into the Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association contest. The Albert Lea Fire Department was notified that Anna’s poster won first place in the 4th-5th grade category. 

“Anna did a great job on her poster, her creativity is amazing.” said Fire Fighter Trevor DeRaad.

Anna received a plaque, $75.00, and her poster was featured in the March/April edition of Minnesota Fire Chief Magazine. The Albert Lea Fire Department sponsors the contest each year to heighten awareness of important fire safety issues. This year’s poster theme was, “Practice Your Escape Plan.”

Anna is the daughter of Jeff and Alice Englin.
