Why can’t Albert Lea get Twin Cities TV?

We’ve been reading the Tribune about a $25,000 survey to find information and opinions about buying Artspace to Albert Lea.
I think it would be wonderful if you would survey to get opinions of how the Albert Lea citizens feel about our Charter Communications cable TV, our selections and our charges. Would it be asking too much to bring some high quality Minneapolis/St. Paul stations to our area? Their newscasts are very good.
The people in Kiester, Bricelyn, Frost and Blue Earth pay $37.22 monthly for Charter Communications TV. They receive WCCO-4, KSTP-5, KMSP-9, KARE-11, and public tv channels from Minneapolis/St. Paul. They get the local channels also. It is nice to have the choice of both. One doesn’t have to be a rocket-scientist to see we are being overcharged and underserved.
Several years ago when KMSP Channel 9 was taken away from several towns, the people in Rochester were mad and complained. They do receive the other Twin Cities channels but Charter put Channel 9 back on for Rochester, so we know change is possible, even for them!
Movers and shakers get good things accomplished. The other kind sit around on their hands and say, “Nothing can be done about this situation.”
How much longer will the City Council allow this monopoly to go on and on? If our present Charter Communications deal refuses again to bring us desired changes, why can’t a second TV cable company be invited into Albert Lea?
This is my second letter in a month about our cable TV because this matters.
