This Saturday, June 28, is a big day!

Do you know why?

Because it is the third annual Corey Goodnature Memorial Scholarship Golf Classic.

For those a you who do not know who Corey Goodnature is, well, let me tell you:

Chief Warrant Officer Three Corey J. Goodnature died for our country on June 28, 2005, in eastern Afghanistan when his MH-47D helicopter was shot down by enemy fire during combat operations. Corey was a pilot and a son to Don and Debbie Goodnature of Clarks Grove.

Corey was also a Night Stalker. If you do not know what a Night Stalker is, please come down on Saturday and see the dedication and commitment of what it means to be a Night Stalker.

This tournament has grown each year and is already sold out for golfing, but to take in the opening ceremony, dinner, and auction is just as important in honoring our area hero.

This tournament gives back $8,000 in local scholarships and just keeps growing each year.

The opening ceremony is at 2:30 p.m. and let me tell you, bring the tissues. If you are not touched by this ceremony, you, my friend, have no feelings. The meal and silent/live auction follow the golfing at 6:30 p.m. and again let me say, it is something to behold.

I think everyone needs to come down and support this great cause and bid on a few things. There are some of the most unique gifts you will ever see in Freeborn County, and it is a fun and touching event.

I hope to see you there!

Barguments

Thanks to all of you who wrote in to me and gave me more barguments. I will list a few more for you:

1. Who would win this Nascar race, Speed Racer or Lightning McQueen from the movie “Cars”? Ka-chow!

2. Who would win in a bar fight, the Incredible Hulk now-currently in theaters or the old Hulk — Lou Ferrigno from the TV show of the ’70s?

3. If placed side by side in a race, would the Pelican Breeze I or Pelican Breeze II win?

Keep sending them in. They are fun.
