Brian Davis deserves the GOP nomination

Brian Davis is the brightest and best of candidates for U.S. Congress this year. He is a husband, a father of four, holds a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering, a doctorate in mechanical engineering, and is a medical doctor at our Mayo Clinic in Rochester. That is the short list of his credits. More importantly, he is a caring person who feels for those who are suffering from the mismanagement of our government. He is a refreshing change from politics as usual.

I hope state Sen. Dick Day will reconsider challenging Brian in a primary. I like Dick, and think he is a great state senator. He can quote chapter and verse about everything in state government. However, Dick has not convinced people that he can do the same on the federal level.

The Republican Party at the state convention made clear by their endorsement of Dr. Brian Davis on the first ballot (over an excellent state politician) that Brian is best-suited to represent our district. Dick Day avoided embarrassment at the convention by not participating. Demanding a primary may result in a greater embarrassment for Dick.

Brian Davis’ ideas are energizing voters across the district. They are new and fresh. Brian is a fiscal and moral conservative in the best sense of the words. People are willing to back him.

U.S. Rep. Tim Walz, who currently represents us, has contributed to the government mismanagement by being in the top tier of liberal spending. His actions have contributed to our dollar being devalued and the soaring costs of goods. Without a good grasp of the issues, Tim Walz has sided with the Democratic leadership resulting in loss for us.

To me the choice is clear. Brian Davis is a candidate who can handle the big issues and make us proud we sent him to Congress.
